Colocasia in Gravy


  •  500g colocasia
  • 1 onion
  • ½ tin tomato
  • ½ tsp ginger
  • ½ tsp garlic
  •  ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt and black pepper as per taste
  • 2 green chillies
  • 2 tsp oil
  • A few coriander leaves
  • 500ml water


  1. Peel colocasia and wash it.
  2. Dry with paper towel.
  3. Dice colocasia length wise in big slices.
  4. Sauté colocasia till brown in colour.
  5. Peel onion and dice very finally.
  6. Sauté onion with ginger and garlic till golden brown.
  7. Add tomato puree, green chillies and spices and cook till it leaves oil.
  8. Mix in water and simmer for 10 minutes.
  9. Add fried colocasia and cook for 5 minutes until tender.

Garnish with Coriander Leaves.
