Lentil Pulse (Daal)
Ingredients
- 250g lentils
- 1 carrot
- 1 potato
- 250g spinach
- 1 onion
- 1 tomato
- ½ tsp ginger
- ½ tsp garlic
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- Salt, red & black pepper as per taste
- A pinch of cinnamon powder
- A few coriander leaves
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 litre water
Method
- Wash lentils and add water, salt and turmeric powder.
- Cook for 10 minutes till lentils are tender.
- Peel carrot, potato and dice into small squares.
- Dice spinach, onion and tomato.
- Add carrots and potatoes to the lentils.
- Sauté cumin seeds in oil and cook onion, ginger and garlic till it becomes light brown colour.
- Add spinach to onion mixture to crisp it.
- Mix in diced tomatoes, cinnamon, red and black chillies and cook for 5-7 minutes to get a smooth mixture.
- Add the smooth mixture to lentils and cook for 5 minutes.
Garnished Lentils with coriander.
