White Dry Black Pulse (Urd Daal)


  • 1 cup white black pulse
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt, red & black pepper as per taste
  • A few coriander leaves
  • 1½ cup water
  • 1 tbsp oil


  1. Wash the pulse and soak in 1 ½ cup of water for 1 hour.
  2. Dice onion and tomato.
  3. Sauté onion ginger and garlic to light brown colour.
  4. Add tomato and spices and cook till tomatoes are tender.
  5. Pour pulse with water and cook till pulse is tender.
  6. Cook the pulse for few minutes to make it dry.

Garnish with Coriander
