White Chane

Ingredients:

  • 250g chane
  • A pinch of sodium-bi-carbonate
  • 2 onions
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tomato
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp red chilli
  • Desired amount of salt
  • 1/4 tsp tamarind paste
  • 1 tbsp oil

Method:

  1. Soak chane overnight in water just enough to absorb
  2. Pressure boil chane with salt and sod-bi-carbonate for 30 minutes
  3. In a pan, add oil and stir fry ginger, one diced onion, cumin seeds, black pepper, red/green chilli. Cook it till it leaves oil then add tamarind paste and add to chane
  4. Cook chane with constant stirring and mix the masala, add more boiled water if you desire
  5. While serving, garnish with long cut onions and tomatoes.
  6. Chane can be served with Puries, Naans and Butaras.
